Southern Roots is an online vegan baked goods company recreating southern classics with a vegan twist. Our products are shipped out nationally to vegans and non-vegans alike. This minority-owned business was founded by Marcus and Cara Pitts, both born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Marcus went to Texas Tech and graduated with a degree in architecture. Cara has always had a helpful heart with years of experience in customer service, retail, leadership and work in Quality Assurance for Medicare and Retirement. Her path led her to become a caregiver for her grandmother, and when her husband changed his diet to plant-based, it launched the family in an exciting new direction. Cara noticed a world of change in her grandmother's health by introducing more plant-based foods into her daily life and wanted to share with the world that you don't have to give up anything to enjoy cruelty-free desserts! Marcus and Cara are alumni of Launch SA's Break Fast and Launch culinary program, have been featured on the SA Live variety show, Tabitha Brown's Very Good Mondays and many more.
